The creation of new varieties is one of the factors of increasing the productivity of agricultural crops. The varieties created in breeding organizations of various countries are used in the Scientific Research Laboratory of the Grain Crop Selection of the Far Eastern State Agrarian University in order to obtain the maximum diversity of genetic material in the process of hybridization for subsequent testing and selection in the conditions of the Amur Region. The purpose of our work was to identify the countries and regions, the varieties of which give the greatest number of useful hybrids for the selection of spring wheat in the conditions of the Amur region. A large selection material was analyzed that was tested from 2007 to 2019 – from the year when the first generation hybrids were created till the testing of lines and varieties in higher-breeding nurseries (control nursery, preliminary variety testing nursery and competitive variety testing nursery). The material for research was varieties from the collection, hybrids and lines of spring wheat. 518 varieties of domestic and foreign selection and 259 lines created on their basis had been studied. Based on the research carried out, it can be assumed that domestic varieties are the most promising for the conditions of the Amur Region. The domestic varieties are more often selected for hybridization than foreign ones according to their indicators. Till 70 % of lines and variety samples are created with domestic varieties’ participation. Among the near abroad countries, the varieties of Ukrainian selection are of the greatest interest. The foreign varieties are selected for hybridization half as often and remain in higher breeding nurseries three times less. The varieties from China are of the greatest interest.
