The authors present retrospective studies on the prevalence of liver diseases in dogs using the example of Astrakhan. The research was conducted at the Department of Morphology, Animal Pathology and Biology of the Saratov University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering and the Veterinary clinic "Alabai" (Astrakhan) in the period 2022–2025. The case histories of dogs of various breeds, age and sex groups with liver pathologies (154 individuals) were studied. It was found that the most common diagnosis was hepatosis (27.9%), followed by cholangiohepatitis (21.4%) and cholangitis (12.3%). Less common were liver fibrosis (8.4%), microvascular dysplasia (8.4%) and chronic hepatitis (7.1%). Liver cirrhosis, acute hepatitis, and other rare pathologies each accounted for less than 5% of cases. Chronic hepatitis was more common in German Shepherds and Labradors, with a significant female predominance (72.7%). Hepatosis was most common among dachshunds and Yorkshire terriers, with a roughly equal sex ratio. Cholangiohepatitis predominantly affected dachshunds and cocker spaniels, with males predominating in dachshunds and females in cocker spaniels. Cholangitis was most frequently diagnosed in dachshunds, French bulldogs, and boxers. Microvascular dysplasia in this sample was observed in mixed-breed dogs and French bulldogs, predominantly in the older age group. The oldest patients were dogs with chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis, while cholangitis was diagnosed in younger animals. Thus, the breed and sex-age structures of dogs in terms of the prevalence of liver diseases have certain patterns.
